They\u2019re aiming for a Budget Committee markup and vote on Thursday.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>But rank-and-file House Republicans <span><u>feel<\/u><\/span> left in the dark as plans progress.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Leadership, including Johnson, <b>Steve Scalise<\/b> and several committee chairs, headed to the White House today to discuss Reconciliation 3.0. Armed Services Chair <b>Mike Rogers<\/b> <span><u>says<\/u><\/span> the emerging defense figure is insufficient.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Senate Democrats blocked<\/b> the <span><u>advancement<\/u><\/span> of the annual defense policy bill in opposition to the ongoing Iran war.<\/p>\n<h2><b>THE ADMINISTRATION<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Trump backed down<\/b> from threats to <span><u>implement<\/u><\/span> a toll for ships going through the Strait of Hormuz after pressure from Gulf states. Her appointment brings women\u2019s <span><u>representation<\/u><\/span> in the Senate to a record high.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>\u201cBlack eye\u201d:<\/b> Progressives in Congress are <span><u>reckoning<\/u><\/span> with <b>Graham Platner<\/b>\u2019s Maine Senate collapse.<\/p>\n<h2><b>THE COURTS <\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Supreme Court justices<\/b> told Congress today that more <span><u>must<\/u><\/span> be spent on their security as safety risks increase.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mahmoud Khalil<\/b>, a former Columbia grad student, is <span><u>suing<\/u><\/span> the federal government and private organizations for allegedly conspiring to suppress Israel critics.
