Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, who now says he supports President Donald Trump\u2019s nominee to lead the agency.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=1698\">Sen. Alan Armstrong Violated STOCK Act With 700 Tardy Stock Disclosures<\/a><\/p><p>The page, however, still references a recently retracted study linking vaccines and autism.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC changed its webpage on vaccines and autism with a new statement making clear that scientists \u201chave not identified the root causes\u201d of autism \u2014 a change Cassidy, who has been critical of Robert F. That study found that boys vaccinated with the hepatitis B vaccine had a significantly higher chance of being diagnosed with autism. An independent statistical reviewer found its conclusions were unsound.<\/p><p>The CDC web page cites the study and lists its conclusions in reference to a 2014 review conducted by the Department of Health and Human Services, which it says found the study \u201cmet criteria for reliability.\u201d<\/p><p>In a statement on the retraction, the study\u2019s publisher said that an independent statistical reviewer found that the study had \u201cfundamental methodological flaws,\u201d including an \u201coverstated conclusion.\u201d The <span><u>vast majority<\/u><\/span> of research into the purported link between vaccines and autism has found no evidence to support such a link.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=1692\">A House Republican\u2019s Final \u2018Mission\u2019<\/a><\/p><p>\u201cBased on the statistical review, it was determined that this conclusion is not supported by the data,\u201d the publisher wrote in May.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the web page.<\/p><p>With Cassidy\u2019s support, Schwartz is expected to be confirmed by the Senate, though it\u2019s not clear that Sean Kaufman, Trump\u2019s pick for HHS assistant secretary for preparedness and response, has the votes.<\/p><p>Kaufman\u2019s past statements questioning the safety and efficacy of vaccines drew criticism from Cassidy and other senators during his hearing before the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee last week.<\/p><p>\u201cWhy would you repeat these damn lies?\u201d Cassidy asked Kaufman.<\/p><p>HELP postponed scheduled votes on both Schwartz and Kaufman\u2019s nominations this week due to member absences.
