A source on Capitol Hill <span><u>told The News &amp; Observer<\/u><\/span> that Sen. Ted Budd (R-North Carolina) asked Edwards to drop out of the race.<\/p><p>A spokesperson for Budd told NOTUS on Tuesday that while the senator doesn\u2019t disclose his private conversations, he \u201cfinds the House Ethics report deeply concerning.\u201d The spokesperson added that Budd \u201cbelieves Rep. Edwards faces a significant uphill battle in his reelection bid,\u201d pointing to Edwards\u2019 trailing poll numbers and that his opponent is vastly outraising Edwards.<\/p><p>Since Edwards withdrew from the race before military and overseas absentee ballots were distributed on Sept. 4,  the North Carolina 11th District GOP Executive Committee, which includes <span><u>the district party\u2019s officers<\/u><\/span> as well as other members, can choose Edwards\u2019 replacement on the ballot.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=2236\">Mike Lindell Steps Down From MyPillow to Focus on Minnesota Governor Campaign<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The House Ethics Committee found that Edwards  including expensive jewelry, designer purses, vacations, guns, and dinners.<\/p><p>The report also pointed to instances when Edwards paid for spa trips, talked to staffers about going to D.C. strip clubs, and told one of the staffers not to let his scheduler know about a dinner the two had planned.<\/p><p>The committee did not find evidence that Edwards \u201cengaged in sexual activity with or explicitly propositioned any individual under his employ.\u201d The report said that Edwards was aware that his \u201cexcessive attention toward the young women had led to rumors and innuendo in the office\u201d and \u201cacknowledged at least some of the behavior at issue could be viewed as inappropriate.\u201d <\/p><p>Even before <span><u>news broke<\/u><\/span> about him being the subject of a House Ethics investigation in May, Edwards faced a competitive challenge from Democrat Jamie Ager, a farmer backed by the centrist group Blue Dog Democrats who comes from a family of North Carolina politicians.<\/p><p>Ager is one of several Democrats running in red districts that have the backing of House Democrats\u2019 campaign arm through its Red to Blue program. The Cook Political Report changed the district\u2019s rating from \u201cLikely Republican\u201d to \u201cLean Republican\u201d in June.<\/p><p>The state\u2019s other competitive seat is North Carolina\u2019s 1st Congressional District, currently held by Democrat Rep.
