When sworn in, Schwartz will be the CDC\u2019s first permanent director in nearly a year, taking over an agency that\u2019s been at the center of Health Secretary Robert F. Then I Came to Michigan and Spoke to Him.\n                    <\/span>\n<\/h3><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>The CDC has been rocked by a series of challenges over the past two years, including the measles and hantavirus <span><u>outbreaks<\/u><\/span>, personnel and funding <span><u>cuts<\/u><\/span>, and a <span><u>shooting<\/u><\/span> at its Atlanta campus last summer that killed one police officer.<\/p><p>The agency has also been targeted by the administration with efforts to <span><u>roll back<\/u><\/span> its vaccine policy, efforts that drew the <span><u>ire<\/u><\/span> of Sen. Bill Cassidy, who chairs the Senate Committee for Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.
