Julie Johnson <span><u>promised to divest<\/u><\/span> her voluminous personal stock holdings to \u201cavoid any potential conflicts of interest\u201d with her work in Congress.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=2325\">Democrats \u2018Plant a Flag\u2019 Against Hegseth\u2019s Media Restrictions<\/a><\/p><p>But the Texas Democrat, whose personal financial habits became a major campaign issue ahead of her <span><u>failed reelection bid<\/u><\/span> in May during a Democratic primary runoff, didn\u2019t publicly reveal dozens of stock transactions she made in late 2025 until this week, according to a  reviewed by NOTUS.<\/p>\n<p>Disclosure of these trades \u2014 76 in all \u2014 came months after a 45-day disclosure deadline mandated by the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act, or STOCK Act.<\/p><p>Taken together, the value of Johnson\u2019s newly disclosed trades is valued between $76,076 and $1.14 million. The periodic transaction report filed yesterday makes those corrections,\u201d Roe said.<\/p><p>Roe did not respond to questions about whether Johnson has been in contact with the House Ethics Committee, which administers the STOCK Act, or whether she paid a late-filing fine, which begins at $200 for first-time offenders.<\/p><p>Among the stocks Johnson reported buying or selling through brokerage firms in late 2025 are <span><u>Boeing<\/u><\/span> and Honeywell, which hold contracts with the Department of Homeland Security.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=2322\">Rand Paul Takes Another Swing at Getting Fauci Federally Prosecuted<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Johnson is the <span><u>vice ranking member<\/u><\/span> on the House Committee on Homeland Security.<\/p><p>Other stocks Johnson bought or sold between October and December include shares of Alaska Air Group, Fifth Third Bancorp, International Paper Company, Kroger Company, Molson Coors Beverage Company and The Cigna Group.<\/p><p>Johnson\u2019s <span><u>hundreds of stock trades<\/u><\/span> \u2014 particularly trades immediately before and after President Donald Trump\u2019s April 2, 2025, \u201cLiberation Day\u201d tariff binge \u2014 provided her Democratic rival, former Rep. Colin Allred, with <span><u>significant electioneering ammunition<\/u><\/span> during their primary this year. One of Allred\u2019s <span><u>campaign ads<\/u><\/span>, citing Texas Tribune <span><u>reporting<\/u><\/span>, accused Johnson of profiting from companies that did business with the Trump administration.<\/p><p>Allred <span><u>defeated<\/u><\/span> Johnson by <span><u>8 percentage points<\/u><\/span> to advance to the general election for Texas\u2019 33rd Congressional District, which is situated in and around Dallas.<\/p><p>Johnson, whose term expires in January, joins an ever-growing cast of lawmakers who\u2019ve violated the STOCK Act\u2019s disclosure provisions in recent months.<\/p><p>In the House, STOCK Act violators include Reps. <span><u>Linda S\u00e1nchez<\/u><\/span> (D-California), <span><u>Julia Letlow<\/u><\/span> (R-Louisiana), <span><u>Jim Jordan<\/u><\/span> (R-Ohio), <span><u>Lisa McClain<\/u><\/span> (R-Michigan), <span><u>Pat Ryan<\/u><\/span> (D-New York), <span><u>Sheri Biggs<\/u><\/span> (R-South Carolina), <span><u>Donald Norcross<\/u><\/span> (D-New Jersey), <span><u>Tim Walberg<\/u><\/span> (R-Michigan), <span><u>Rich McCormick<\/u><\/span> (R-Georgia), <span><u>Ritchie Torres<\/u><\/span> (D-New York), <span><u>Troy Nehls<\/u><\/span> (R-Texas), <span><u>Dan Meuser<\/u><\/span> (R-Pennsylvania), <span><u>Jonathan Jackson<\/u><\/span> (D-Illinois), <span><u>George Whitesides<\/u><\/span> (D-California), <span><u>Val Hoyle<\/u><\/span> (D-Oregon), <span><u>Austin Scott<\/u><\/span> (R-Georgia), <span><u>Shri Thanedar<\/u><\/span> (D-Michigan), <span><u>Debbie Wasserman Schultz<\/u><\/span> (D-Florida), <span><u>Pramila Jayapal<\/u><\/span> (D-Washington), <span><u>Kelly Morrison<\/u><\/span> (D-Minnesota), <span><u>Christian Menefee<\/u><\/span> (D-Texas), <span><u>Daniel Webster<\/u><\/span> (R-Florida), <span><u>Ed Case<\/u><\/span> (D-Hawaii), <span><u>Dan Crenshaw<\/u><\/span> (R-Texas), <span><u>Laurel Lee<\/u><\/span> (R-Florida) and <span><u>Scott Franklin<\/u><\/span> (R-Florida). Rep. <span><u>Kevin Hern<\/u><\/span> (R-Oklahoma) was also late, although his office denies it.<\/p><p>In the Senate, Sens. <span><u>Alan Armstrong<\/u><\/span> (R-Oklahoma), <span><u>Katie Britt<\/u><\/span> (R-Alabama), <span><u>Susan Collins<\/u><\/span> (R-Maine), <span><u>John Hickenlooper<\/u><\/span> (D-Colorado), <span><u>Mike Rounds<\/u><\/span> (R-South Dakota) and <span><u>John Fetterman<\/u><\/span> (D-Pennsylvania) have violated the STOCK Act.<\/p><p>In July, the House <span><u>passed<\/u><\/span> the Republican-backed Stop Insider Trading Act, which would bar members of Congress from buying new stocks but would allow them to keep what they already own.
