Julie Johnson Violated Transparency Law With Dozens of Late Stock Disclosures<\/a><\/p><p>The amended complaint adds to earlier legal action from the same plaintiffs, who wanted to block the $1.8 billion \u201canti-weaponization\u201d fund that emerged as part of Trump\u2019s settlement with the Internal Revenue Service and Treasury Department. The plaintiffs, including former federal prosecutor Andrew Floyd, want the DOJ to \u201cpermanently set aside the creation and operation of the lawless Fund and to set aside the corrupt Immunity Order.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After the Senate postponed a vote on Blanche\u2019s confirmation over members\u2019 concerns about the fund, the acting attorney general on Sunday <span><u>issued<\/u><\/span> a written rescission order to win over key Republican holdouts. While Sens. Thom Tillis of North Carolina and John Cornyn said they were <span><u>satisfied<\/u><\/span>with the statement, other Republicans like Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski say they are still on the fence.<\/p><p>But Blanche\u2019s statement that the fund \u201cis\u201d not currently \u201coperative\u201d constituted \u201cpresent-tense wordsmithing\u201d that does not guarantee the fund will not proceed, the filing argues \u2014 saying the unsigned document \u201ccarries no more weight than a press release.\u201d Blanche also reiterates that the immunity deal \u201capplies by its terms only retroactively\u201d for previously filed tax returns, but does not formally rescind it in his          <\/span>\n<\/h3><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>The plaintiffs requested a judge declare the fund unlawful and the immunity order unconstitutional, as well as an injunction blocking any payouts.<\/p><p>The Justice Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the lawsuit.<\/p><p>The DOJ <span><u>established<\/u><\/span> the \u201canti-weaponization\u201d fund on May 18 to provide legal remedy for those who claim to have been unfairly targeted by former President Joe Biden\u2019s administration. An <span><u>addendum<\/u><\/span> to the original order released on May 19 barred the government from pursuing tax claims against Trump, his sons Donald Jr. and Eric Trump and certain business entities including the Trump Organization.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=2325\">Democrats \u2018Plant a Flag\u2019 Against Hegseth\u2019s Media Restrictions<\/a><\/p><p>Blanche\u2019s Sunday night statement only addressed the creation of the fund itself, not the controversial tax-audit shield for the president and his affiliates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder the Immunity Order, career IRS employees will be forced to terminate ongoing audits of the President and his businesses, giving the President a lucrative and unconstitutional emolument,\u201d the plaintiffs argued in the lawsuit. \u201cThat would be unprecedented under any circumstance; it is all the more remarkable considering that the President profited an eye-popping $2.2 billion after returning to the White House.\u201d<\/p><p>The Trump administration on July 31 <span><u>appealed<\/u><\/span> U.S. District Judge Kathleen M. Williams\u2019 ruling that the fund <span><u>constituted<\/u><\/span> federal collusion, though her decision did not block its existence.<\/p><p>\u201cThis action was never about a party seeking judicial resolution of a legal issue or a factual dispute,\u201d Williams, a Barack Obama appointee, wrote. She also ordered sanctions against the private attorneys involved, referring one of them to the state bar for potential disciplinary action.<\/p><p>While Cornyn and Tillis voted to advance the acting attorney general on Tuesday, Sen.
