{"id":2598,"date":"2026-08-16T19:41:53","date_gmt":"2026-08-16T19:41:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=2598"},"modified":"2026-08-16T19:41:53","modified_gmt":"2026-08-16T19:41:53","slug":"blanche-says-doj-could-take-voter-roll-fight-to-the-supreme-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=2598","title":{"rendered":"Blanche Says DOJ Could Take Voter Roll Fight to the Supreme Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Attorney General Todd Blanche said the Justice Department could take its fight to obtain copies of states\u2019 voter rolls to the Supreme Court after losing 22 cases in federal courts so far.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=2596\">Trump Administration Greenlights World Liberty Financial Bank Charter<\/a><\/p><p>\u201cAbsolutely it\u2019s a possibility,\u201d Blanche said Sunday on NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet the Press\u201d when asked about petitioning the high court to review the cases.<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department began pursuing state voter rolls \u2014 the official lists of registered voters \u2014 after President Donald Trump signed an <span><u>executive order<\/u><\/span> in March 2025 directing the federal government to take action on election administration. Per the Constitution, states are primarily in charge of administering elections.<\/p><p>Blanche said the Trump administration \u201cunderstands\u201d that states hold the power to administer elections, \u201cbut it doesn\u2019t mean the federal government should play no that\u2019s really what we\u2019re litigating,\u201d Blanche added.<\/p><p>The Justice Department launched 30 lawsuits against states that did not voluntarily turn over their rolls and has <span><u>lost 22 cases<\/u><\/span> so far.<\/p><p>Trump\u2019s executive order seeks the voter rolls to review them against federal citizenship data and identify any potential noncitizens registered to vote.<\/p><p>\u201cElection integrity is something that President Trump ran on, and the American people elected him,\u201d Blanche said on NBC. \u201cThe idea that the Department of Justice is trying to investigate issues around elections to make sure they\u2019re fair and make sure they\u2019re conducted the right way is not something that we should be running away from.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Blanche was sworn in as attorney general last week, after a <span><u>narrow Senate confirmation vote<\/u><\/span>.<\/p><p>Read more <a Department will act independently from the White House.<\/p><p>\u201cThere\u2019s a big difference between saying we will always do our job and investigate any case and act independently of the White House,\u201d Blanche said. \u201cNo, I\u2019m not going to pledge that. And no attorney general should ever pledge that.\u201d<\/p><p>Blanche faced questions after <span><u>speaking<\/u><\/span> at a rally hosted by Trump on Friday for New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman.<\/p><p>Ahead of Blanche\u2019s confirmation vote, some <span><u>senators<\/u><\/span> wanted guarantees from Blanche that he would drop the controversial \u201canti-weaponization\u201d fund that would have compensated people who were found to have been improperly prosecuted by the federal government.<\/p><p>After Blanche officially assumed the role, Trump said the <span><u>fate of the fund<\/u><\/span> was up to the attorney general. Blanche reiterated that the fund was \u201cdead.\u201d<\/p><p>\u201cI\u2019ve said repeatedly it\u2019s dead, and he [Trump] has also said it\u2019s dead.\u201d Blanche said Sunday. \u201cThere is no fund.
