Jean Carroll Payout<\/a><\/p><p>Guest, a four-term Republican from Mississippi, was more than six months late disclosing three stock sales made by a family trust fund owned by his wife, Haley, involving shares of the oil giant Chevron, the lodging platform Airbnb and the cosmetics company e.l.f. Beauty.<\/p>\n<p>By law, members of Congress must publicly disclose individual stock trades within 45 days of a trade\u2019s execution. Guest <span><u>voted<\/u><\/span> for the bill, which is now pending in the Senate.<\/p><p>In a message Friday to the clerk of the House of Representatives, Guest wrote that he didn\u2019t learn until Thursday of the three stock sales made on Dec. 16.<\/p><p>\u201cA compliance firm missed them, discovering the oversight while preparing my annual House disclosure,\u201d Guest wrote, adding that he\u2019s notified House Ethics Committee staff and has \u201cinitiated additional compliance review.\u201d<\/p><p>Guest indicated that each late sale was worth between $1,001 and $15,000 \u2014 lawmakers are only required to disclose values in broad ranges \u2014 and that the stock sales were made \u201cat a loss.\u201d<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=2633\">UK Prime Minister Texted With a Susie Wiles Impersonator<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In an email to NOTUS, Guest\u2019s chief of staff, Jordan Downs, said the congressman \u201cdoes not have any decision-making role\u201d in the trust and \u201cwas not consulted on these, or any other, transactions made by the trust.\u201d<\/p><p>This is the second time Guest had violated the STOCK Act\u2019s disclosure provisions. In 2021, he was more than eight months late disclosing sales of ExxonMobil and BP stock by a family trust benefiting his wife, Business Insider <span><u>reported<\/u><\/span>.<\/p><p>Guest\u2019s committee is empowered to fine \u2014 and to waive fines \u2014 for STOCK Act scofflaws.
