{"id":2757,"date":"2026-08-19T16:10:56","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T16:10:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=2757"},"modified":"2026-08-19T16:10:56","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T16:10:56","slug":"tarp-covering-kennedy-center-facade-must-stay-doj-argues-in-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=2757","title":{"rendered":"Tarp Covering Kennedy Center Facade Must Stay, DOJ Argues in Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The tarp covering the Kennedy Center facade must remain as part of ongoing construction activities following the removal of President Donald Trump\u2019s name from the building, Justice Department attorneys argued in a recent court filing.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=2755\">The Incredible Baseball Life of Tommy John<\/a><\/p><p>Removal of the scaffolding and tarp obscuring the storied venue\u2019s marquee will depend on the extent of required repairs, the government attorneys wrote in a Tuesday status report to the federal judge that <span><u>ordered Trump\u2019s name removed<\/u><\/span> in May.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCenter management has erected one portion of this necessary scaffolding, which it used to remove President Trump\u2019s name from the building\u2019s facade,\u201d the filing states. \u201cThe protective barrier around the scaffolding was and is a necessary element of the ongoing construction activities at the Center.\u201d<\/p><p>The explanation comes days after the Kennedy Center\u2019s board took a second swing at honoring the president by name, <span><u>voting to carve<\/u><\/span> \u201cRenovated by President Donald J. Trump\u201d below the official inscription honoring Kennedy. The  would also name the grounds of the center the \u201cPresident Donald J.
