Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon said he asked the state attorney general to \u201cstart looking into\u201d the conduct of Justice Department election observers deployed to the state for last week\u2019s primary election.<\/p>

\u201cIt sounded like the behavior of the observers was a bit aggressive,\u201d Gordon told the state canvassing board on Wednesday, according<\/u><\/span> to NBC News. \u201cIt just was irregular, and I have asked the attorney general to start looking into, you know, kind of the nature of the visits and all that sort of stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Justice Department sent observers to Wyoming as part of a broad effort by President Donald Trump\u2019s administration to override states\u2019 authority<\/u><\/span> to administer and monitor elections. The president has continued to allege<\/u><\/span> that there has been widespread fraud in elections and has pushed to increase federal control<\/u><\/span> over the voting process.<\/p>

Two attorneys from the DOJ\u2019s Civil Rights Division monitored polls in Laramie County, according to a press release<\/u><\/span> posted last week.<\/p>\n
