Police Officer Dies After Shooting at Station"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>A police officer died early Monday morning after a shooting at the Second District station in Northwest D.C., though city officials say there was no one else involved in the incident.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=3213\">At East Potomac Park, Trees Are Falling and Tensions Are Rising<\/a><\/p><p>\u201cOn Monday, August 31, 2026, at approximately 5:02 a.m., a [Metropolitan Police Department] officer suffered a critical injury from a gunshot wound while inside the Second District police station in the 3300 block of Idaho Avenue NW. The officer was transported to a nearby hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries,\u201d said an MPD spokesman in an email.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMPD\u2019s Internal Affairs Bureau responded to the scene to investigate.
