A new rapid-transit bus line \u2014 dubbed \u201cthe Gold Line\u201d \u2014 as well as improvements at the Stadium-Armory Metro station will do the trick, Clarke said. Not everyone is convinced.<\/p><p><b>\u201cI don\u2019t really trust the numbers <\/b>and the evaluation they did,\u201d Ward 6 council member <b>Charles Allen<\/b> told NOTUS. \u201cThe option to build that new station has got to remain on the table, because it really is about if we want to see this as a growth opportunity in this part of the city or not.\u201d<\/p><p><b>For residents, part of the skepticism<\/b> stems from the <span><u>failure of D.C.\u2019s streetcar<\/u><\/span>, which ran into trouble along the exact H Street corridor Metro is proposing for the Gold Line.<\/p><p>\u201cThe RFK campus needs a durable transit solution if the city is going to see a return on its billion-dollar investment,\u201d Hill East resident <b>David Wyman<\/b> told NOTUS. \u201cThe streetcar hasn\u2019t worked. Metro stations are forever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>When the political winds change<\/b> in January, it\u2019s possible that new leadership might revisit adding a second station. Though a spokesperson for <b>Janeese Lewis George<\/b> declined to give her thoughts on transit options supplying the area, Allen told NOTUS he has a \u201chunch\u201d that \u201cshe\u2019ll at least be much more open-minded.\u201d<\/p><h2><b>FROM THE DISTRICT<\/b><\/h2><p><b>Construction on the controversial White House ballroom can continue, <\/b>per a 5-4 ruling that came down Monday afternoon from the Supreme Court, <span><u>NOTUS\u2019 Ben T.N. Mause reports<\/u><\/span>. A majority of the justices ruled that historic preservationists lacked standing to sue.<\/p><p><b>A D.C. police officer died<\/b> Monday morning after sustaining a gunshot wound inside the Second District police station in Northwest, <span><u>NOTUS\u2019 Martin Austermuhle reports<\/u><\/span>. City officials say there was no indication that anyone else was involved, but did not share further details on what occurred.
