The Intercept and co-plaintiff Freedom of the Press Foundation originally  on Aug. 12, arguing het is trading Americans\u2019 First Amendment rights for profit.<\/p><p>\u201cTrump doesn\u2019t get to charge people for his own public statements,\u201d Annie Chabel, The Intercept\u2019s chief executive, said in a Tuesday news release. \u201cThe First Amendment doesn\u2019t have a paywall, and Harp and his deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino from posting White House announcements \u201cso long as \u2018Truth API\u2019 is in operation.\u201d<\/p><p>The two are believed to be the only aides Production<\/a><\/p><p>In an earnings call last month, Trump Media\u2019s interim CEO Kevin McGurn told investors that clients had already begun buying access to the president\u2019s social feed.<\/p><p>And while the White House has not publicly commented on the suit, McGurn characterized Trump API as perfectly legal.<\/p><p>\u201cProviding licensed real-time public data through commercial APIs is a well-established business practice across the technology, financial information and media industries,\u201d McGurn said on the earnings call. \u201cThis is no different.\u201d<\/p><p>Trump created Truth Social in 2021 after he was removed from Twitter, and he remains the largest shareholder in its parent company, Trump Media.
