Amy Klobuchar, an <span><u>outspoken<\/u><\/span> campaign finance reformer, is facing questions from federal regulators about a $42,000-plus transaction between her Senate and Minnesota gubernatorial your committee has received money from the sale of campaign assets,\u201d Lauren Schleyer, a senior Federal Election Commission campaign finance analyst, wrote in an Aug. 27  to the Minnesota Democrat\u2019s Senate committee.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesotans for Klobuchar, her <span><u>gubernatorial committee<\/u><\/span>, paid Klobuchar for Minnesota, her Senate campaign committee, $42,695.14 for an <span><u>\u201casset transfer\u201d<\/u><\/span> on March 31.<\/p><p>A Klobuchar spokesperson told NOTUS the transfer involved a website domain and email the assets sold and whether or not the assets were sold at fair market rates,\u201d but it appears that Klobuchar\u2019s committee did not describe the transaction aside from labeling it \u201casset transfer\u201d .<\/p><p>The FEC has asked Klobuchar\u2019s federal campaign committee to amend its April quarterly report to include additional information about the \u201cnature of the assets sold.\u201d The commission also wants to know \u201cwhether or not these assets were sold at fair market rates.\u201d Klobuchar has until Oct. 1 to respond.<\/p><p>Read more <a governor, the gubernatorial campaign purchased a website domain and email list from the Senate campaign at fair market value and in full compliance with state and federal election law, a normal part of running for state office after previously being a federal candidate,\u201d a Klobuchar campaign spokesperson said. \u201cFEC Requests for Additional Information are extremely routine \u2014 the FEC sends thousands of them every year \u2014 and this one is no exception.\u201d<\/p><p>There are strict rules and limits governing contributions between federal and state campaigns.<\/p><p>Under the FEC\u2019s regulations, a candidate\u2019s state campaign could <span><u>generally donate<\/u><\/span> up to $2,000 to their federal committee \u2014 though <span><u>Minnesota law prohibits<\/u><\/span> the contribution or transfer of federal funds to a candidate\u2019s state campaign.
