Takeover if Janeese Lewis George Becomes Mayor"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>President Donald Trump said Thursday he might \u201ctake back\u201d D.C. depending on who wins the mayoral race in the city, stating he would be opposed to Janeese Lewis George winning next week\u2019s Democratic primary.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=390\">Lawmakers Don\u2019t Know What Will Happen When FISA Goes Dark<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the Oval Office, a reporter compared Lewis George, a democratic socialist, to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and asked Trump how he would feel if she wins.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I wouldn\u2019t like it,\u201d Trump said in response. \u201cAnd maybe we\u2019d take back Washington and run it on the federal basis. We won\u2019t put up with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In response, Lewis George said D.C. is not going to be able to get Immigration and Custom Enforcement off the streets by \u201cfearing the president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not going to protect our rights or Home Rule by obeying in advance,\u201d Lewis George said in a statement. \u201cThreatening Home Rule because you do not like how residents vote is an attack on democracy itself. The people of DC elect the mayor of DC.
