Gavin Newsom Says Trump Is Using the DOJ to Target Him and His Wife"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday that President Donald Trump is using the Justice Department to target him and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, accusing Trump of escalating a feud with one of his most visible Democratic critics.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=442\">Trump, Iran Official Sign Iran Deal Framework<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Newsom said federal agents have contacted family friends and former employees in recent days, demanding records and \u201cdigging through years and years of random documents.\u201d He said the investigation, which does not appear to have a specific focus, has also reached his wife.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDonald Trump isn\u2019t just coming after me because of my mean tweets,\u201d Newsom said in a video statement. \u201cHe\u2019s coming after me because I am considering running for president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Newsom added that he believes agents are using the grand jury process to search for a crime, not investigate one they had already found.<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Newsom framed the investigation as part of a broader effort by Trump to use the federal government against political opponents. He cited former FBI director James Comey, New York Attorney General Letitia James, Sen. Adam Schiff and Minnesota Gov. You can investigate me. You can harass me.
