Conservative commentator and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson is officially done with the Republican Party \u2014 and says he expects others to follow him into the political wilderness.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m out,\u201d Carlson said on the \u201cCan\u2019t Be Censored<\/u><\/span>\u201d podcast, which is hosted by former Canadian journalists Travis Dhanraj and Karman Wong, during an episode published Thursday. The comments did not surface widely online until Monday. \u201cIf I\u2019m out, then I think a lot of other people are out, too,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Carlson\u2019s breakup with the Republican Party represents a growing frustration with the Trump administration\u2019s strenuous support of Israel and its ongoing conflict with Iran, both issues that public opinion polls suggest<\/u><\/span> are becoming increasingly unpopular.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow could I or any American voter support a political party that\u2019s not loyal to the United States,\u201d Carlson said. \u201cThat puts the interests of a foreign country above those of its own citizens. It\u2019s not possible to vote for people like that, and I\u2019m not going to.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carlson, who was once one of the most recognizable faces in conservative media, has repeatedly broken with the Trump administration on a number of issues since he was fired from Fox News in 2023.<\/p>\n

But he\u2019s taken on a more confrontational tenor since the president decided to launch a war against Iran earlier this year, even publicly apologizing for campaigning for Trump in the past.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, we\u2019ll be tormented by it for a long time \u2013 I will be,\u201d he said on \u201cThe Tucker Carlson Show.\u201d \u201cAnd I want to say I\u2019m sorry for misleading people. It was not intentional, that\u2019s all I\u2019ll say.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carlson also publicly rebuked<\/u><\/span> the president after Trump posted an AI-generated photo of himself as a religious figure earlier this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s mockery,\u201d Carlson said. \u201cHe\u2019s mocking Jesus. He\u2019s making fun of Christianity. The central figure of the religion is being held up for mockery.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Carlson insisted he will not support Republicans anymore, he also said he won\u2019t be supporting the Democratic Party.<\/p>\n
