President Donald Trump wants his name on most anything: money<\/u><\/span>, buildings<\/u><\/span>, airports<\/u><\/span>, warships<\/u><\/span>, even the nation\u2019s 250th anniversary celebration<\/u><\/span>.<\/p>\n

But one item is increasingly out of reach: newborns.<\/p>\n

In 2025, the baby name \u201cDonald\u201d hit its lowest point of popularity in U.S. history, according to data maintained by the Social Security Administration and reviewed by NOTUS.<\/p>\n

The federal agency received fewer than 400 Social Security card applications for baby Donalds last year, making \u201cDonald\u201d the nation\u2019s 690th most popular baby name amid Trump\u2019s return to the White House for a second term.<\/p>\n

\u201cDonald\u201d peaked in popularity in 1934, when more than 30,400 American babies received the name, and remained within the top 100 through 1990.<\/p>\n

But even as Trump\u2019s notoriety in business, entertainment and politics grew, the baby name \u201cDonald\u201d continued to decline, Social Security Administration data indicates.<\/p>\n

In 2004, when the first season of Trump\u2019s hit television show \u201cThe Apprentice\u201d premiered, \u201cDonald\u201d had fallen to No. 263. In 2013, the year World Wrestling Entertainment inducted Trump into its Hall of Fame, \u201cDonald\u201d sat at No. 415.<\/p>\n

And in 2016, when Trump won his first presidential term, \u201cDonald\u201d sank to No. 489.<\/p>\n

\u201cDonald\u201d did tick up a few notches in 2017, Trump\u2019s first year in office, but continued its nearly unabated free fall for the next eight years, losing more than 200 popularity places by 2025.<\/p>\n

Even in Florida, Trump\u2019s new home state and a Republican stronghold, parents minted just 21 baby boy Donalds last year, at par with the names \u201cAbner,\u201d \u201cEnoch,\u201d \u201cNeythan,\u201d \u201cAriun,\u201d \u201cEros,\u201d \u201cStone\u201d and \u201cWestley,\u201d and slightly behind<\/i> the likes of \u201cMohammad,\u201d \u201cKash,\u201d \u201cBrandon,\u201d \u201cMaximus,\u201d \u201cKeanu\u201d and \u201cTruce,\u201d among hundreds of others.<\/p>\n

Parents haven\u2019t been influenced by the first lady, either. \u201cMelania\u201d once cracked the top 1,000 most popular baby girl names \u2014 in 2017 \u2014 but did not appear before or after Trump\u2019s first year in office, according to Social Security Administration records.<\/p>\n
