President Donald Trump canceled a signing ceremony for housing legislation scheduled for Wednesday, arguing that it should take a backseat to voting restrictions he wants Congress to move on.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u2019s Housing News Conference and Signing is hereby cancelled until such time as we pass the desperately needed SAVE AMERICA ACT,\u201d Trump said in a Truth Social post<\/u><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The housing legislation, which seeks to speed up housing development across the country, was passed by both chambers this week and seemed to be on a glide path to the president, who had repeatedly endorsed the bill.<\/p>\n

Congress spent months trying to pass it, and finally reached a breakthrough deal that allowed it to pass the Senate<\/u><\/span> on Monday and the House<\/u><\/span> on Tuesday. Republicans had been particularly eager to incorporate it into their midterm messaging.<\/p>\n

Trump began trashing the bill on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Elizabeth \u2018Pocahontas\u2019 Warren centric housing bill, which is of minor importance compared to lower interest rates, and even FISA, pales in comparison to passing THE SAVE AMERICA ACT,\u201d Trump said in a separate post<\/u><\/span>.<\/p>\n
