{"id":783,"date":"2026-06-30T11:08:35","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T11:08:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=783"},"modified":"2026-06-30T11:08:35","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T11:08:35","slug":"25-states-sue-trump-administration-over-medicaid-work-requirement-rule","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=783","title":{"rendered":"25 States Sue Trump Administration Over Medicaid Work-Requirement Rule"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>A coalition of 25 states and Washington, D.C.,  against President Donald Trump\u2019s administration for its strict interpretation of new Medicaid work requirements included in the <span><u>One Big Beautiful Bill<\/u><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/modernhomejournals.com\/?p=782\">A New AI Tool Lets Candidates See What Chatbots Are Telling Voters<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit, filed in federal district court in Massachusetts, claims a new <span><u>June 3 rule<\/u><\/span> from the Health and Human Services Department and Centers for Medicare &amp; Medicaid Services forces \u201cvulnerable Medicaid members\u201d to \u201cjump through unnecessary administrative hoops\u201d to get and retain life-saving healthcare coverage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CMS and HHS did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic attorneys general filed the suit on behalf of their respective states, and two governors, Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Gov. Andy Beshear of Kentucky, joined in their official capacity.<\/p>\n<p>The state officials claim the new rule ignores work-requirment exemptions Congress passed through the OBBB.
