Far-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos has been deported back to the United Kingdom after immigration agents detained him in New Orleans on Thursday, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed on Saturday.

Yiannopoulos was deported the day after he was reported to be in custody. The former Kanye West spokesperson and Marjorie Taylor Greene congressional intern entered the country legally in 2019 but “chose to overstay his welcome in violation of our nation’s laws,” a DHS spokesperson said Friday. A judge had ordered Yiannopoulos to be removed on July 22 after he failed to appear in immigration court, according to the agency.
Yiannopoulos is from the United Kingdom and has been an outspoken supporter of mass deportations and Immigration and Customs Enforcement crackdowns.

“Being in detention is a choice,” the agency posted on Friday alongside a photo of Yiannopoulos.
