House Majority PAC Adds $11 Million for States Mired in Redistricting Drama

The flagship Democratic PAC is targeting districts in Virginia and Florida.

House Democrats’ flagship super PAC is expanding its TV ad reservations in a pair of states upended by redistricting efforts.

House Majority PAC, which is closely aligned with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, is adding nearly $5 million to Miami and West Palm Beach, covering several battleground seats in south Florida, as well as an additional $6.5 million to Norfolk and Richmond in Virginia.

The ad reservations in Florida and Virginia come as Democrats face losses on both states’ congressional maps. GOP legislators redrew Florida’s map last month, while the Virginia Supreme Court rejected a Democratic gerrymander, initially approved via ballot referendum this spring.

House Majority PAC already reserved $272 million in TV and digital advertising across the country this fall. The record-breaking spending for the group comes as Democrats seek to flip the House. House GOP and Democrat-aligned groups have generally kept pace with each other in fundraising, even as Republicans have built a much wider financial advantage across the political ecosystem this cycle.

House Majority PAC’s new buy in Florida will help defend Rep. Jared Moskowitz, a Democrat who is now running in more competitive territory after Republicans redrew district lines. It will also add firepower to a Miami-based seat Democrats are targeting that’s represented by Republican Rep. María Elvira Salazar.

In Virginia, Democrats are newly going on offense against Republican Rep. Rob Wittman, dropping $2 million in Richmond to target him. House Majority PAC is also adding nearly $4.6 million in Norfolk, aimed at attacking Republican Rep. Jen Kiggans. Both districts remain competitive, after Democrats failed to remake the congressional districts in the state.
