Jackson Lahmeyer, the candidate backed by President Donald Trump in Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District, is expected to drop out of the race one day after advancing to a runoff in the GOP primary, two sources familiar with the matter told NOTUS.

He’s expected to make an announcement as soon as Wednesday. The runoff set for Aug. 25 is to fill a seat being vacated by Republican Kevin Hern, who is running for Senate.
Lahmeyer has told people he plans to drop out following a Daily Mail story that included text messages purported to show him flirting with a woman who is not his wife. But sources cautioned he could still change his mind.

Lahmeyer — a pastor — did not respond to a text and call seeking comment.
State Rep. Mark Tedford would become the Republican nominee if Lahmeyer ultimately decides to drop out. Republicans are heavily favored in this district against Democrat John Croisant.
